Description

The Albemarle 280 Express is an updated version of the company's popular 27 Express with an updated interior and redesigned Deck layout. Heavily built on an aggressive Deep-V Hull with a wide 9'6" beam, the 280's solid package of hardcore fishing amenities - Together with good range and equally good turn of speed - Placed her in the leading ranks of under 30-foot Sportfishing boats. Features include an integral bow pulpit, (2) in-deck fish boxes, folding rear seat, aft-facing Cockpit seat, twin transom live wells / fish boxes, Cockpit rod storage, freshwater / raw water washdowns, trim...

Captain's Notes

From the helm, the 280 Express feels bigger than her length, with excellent sightlines both seated and standing and enough dash space for modern multi-function electronics. Wide side decks and substantial bow rails make anchoring or working the foredeck feel secure even in a sloppy chop. The cockpit freeboard is just right for gaffing and wiring fish without feeling exposed. Engine access is outstanding, with room to actually work around the motors instead of just stare at them. Down below, the natural light from the forward hatch and side ports keeps the cabin from feeling cave-like, and the joinery has that solid, “no-rattle” feel that speaks to the Albemarle pedigree.

Why 280 Express in New Jersey

In waters where conditions change quickly and runs to the fishing grounds can be long, the 280 Express really comes into its own. Her deep-V entry and weight give a confident ride when afternoon winds kick up, while the beam provides a steady platform on the drift or at anchor. The cockpit is laid out for serious trolling, jigging, or bottom fishing, yet still cleans up nicely for family cruising days. With a comfortable cabin and enclosed head, overnighters and shoulder-season trips stay practical and pleasant. For local ramps and marinas that favor manageable size but offshore capability, this model hits a very useful sweet spot.
